Overview
GPS Camera ("the app") is developed by AJP Groups. The app lets you take photos and videos with a stamp showing your location, address, map, date and time. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have.
In short: your photos, videos and location stay on your phone. We do not have accounts, we do not run servers that receive your data, and we do not sell or share your personal information.
Information the app uses
- Camera and microphone: used only while you take a photo or record a video. Sound is recorded only with videos.
- Precise location (GPS): used only while the app is open, to print your latitude, longitude, address and map on the stamp. The app does not use your location in the background.
- Address lookup: to turn your coordinates into an address, the app uses your phone's built-in Android geocoder. Depending on your device, this service (usually provided by Google) may send your coordinates to its servers to find the address.
- Map image: to draw the small satellite map on the stamp, the app downloads map tiles for your area from Esri's ArcGIS World Imagery service. These requests reveal the approximate area being shown and your device's IP address to Esri, as with any web request.
- Photos and videos: saved on your phone, in the app's private storage and in your phone Gallery (album "GPS Camera"). They are not uploaded anywhere by the app.
- Settings: your stamp note and display choices are stored only on your phone.
Information we do not collect
- No account, name, phone number or email is required or collected.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs are included.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- We do not sell, rent or trade any information.
Sharing
A photo or video leaves your phone only when you tap Share and choose an app (for example WhatsApp or Gmail). What happens to it then is covered by that app's privacy policy. Remember that shared photos and videos show your location on the stamp.
Third-party services
- Google (Android geocoder / Google Play services): https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Esri (ArcGIS World Imagery map tiles): https://www.esri.com/en-us/privacy/overview
Permissions
- Camera: to take photos and record videos.
- Microphone: to record sound with videos (videos can be recorded without sound if you deny it).
- Location: to add your location to the stamp, only while the app is in use.
- Photos / storage: to save photos and videos to your Gallery (on Android 9 and older this is a storage permission).
- Internet: to look up your address and download the map image.
Keeping and deleting your data
Photos and videos stay on your phone until you delete them. Deleting an item in the app removes it from the app and from your phone Gallery. Uninstalling the app removes its private storage and settings; copies already in your Gallery stay until you delete them there. You can turn off location, camera or microphone access at any time in your phone's Settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Security
Because your data is stored on your own device, its safety depends on your phone's security, such as your screen lock. Network requests for addresses and maps use secure HTTPS connections.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy (for example, if ads are added), this policy will be updated and the new date shown at the top. Please check it from time to time.
